Bongo Drums
Bongos originated in eastern Cuba in the late 19th century, evolving from African drum traditions and becoming a key instrument in Cuban music styles like son cubano. The instrument consists of two joined drums, the smaller "macho" and the larger "hembra," which are traditionally played with the fingertips and palms. Bongos gained popularity in the United States in the mid-20th century and are now used in various genres, including salsa, Latin jazz, and Latin rock.
